Birthday Weekend

Let me begin by saying, I have the best husband in the whole world J This past weekend, I turned 24, and he went above and beyond to make a celebration out of it.

I posted earlier that “we haven’t been up to much of anything.”  Well, that is entirely untrue.  What I meant to say is that we’ve been super busy doing really fun things, but I didn’t bring my camera with me, so I don’t have any pictures.  Thanks to Mallory, the weekend has been documented.

The weekend began when we all went over to Megan and Jourdan’s apartment for our “Christmas Cocktail Party” Friday night.  It was no coincidence that Friday also happened to be my friend Emily’s 24th birthday.  We did our best to keep the birthday celebration under wraps, but we’re not so sure she was “surprised.”  As always with our group of friends, we had so much fun.  Megan and Jourdan put on a great party.  The food was wonderful, the drinks were endless, and the decorations were perfectly festive.  The white elephant game at the end of the night was a huge success.  Sadly, I had to go into work at 11, so I missed it, but Phillip told me all about it.  Thanks for having us guys!  Here are a few pictures from the night…

(All of the pictures in this post are from Mallory.  Thanks Mal!!)

 Me and the birthday girl.

This is what he brought home.  Supposedly it was the best gift of the night.  He was so excited and started planning a ski trip just so he could wear it haha.

Then it was the big day…

I woke up Saturday morning after work completely unaware of the night that was about to unfold.  My sweet husband had been secretly planning a birthday surprise for me for weeks, and all the details were coming together.  All I was told was that I needed to be ready to leave by 7:00 that night.  I was so excited…I love surprises!!  I got myself ready with time to spare, and then it was time to go.

I needed to go out to the garage to get my wallet (this is where he said that I threw a kink in his plan).  We walked back to our apartment to “get his keys,” but then passed our apartment door.  He told me that I couldn’t ask any more questions J  We walked out to the front of our complex, and there waiting on us was a white stretch limo haha!  When we opened the door, all of my best friends were inside and yelled, “SURPRISE!!!”

Then Phillip began pouring everyone glasses of my favorite champagne J  The ride to the restaurant was quick.  We landed at a place in Rice Village called Prego.  It’s a really good Italian restaurant that Phillip and I had been to once before and had an amazing meal.  When we got there, they walked us past the main dining room, through the kitchen, and into the wine cellar where our table was set.  We were the only people in there the whole night, and we all felt like kings and queens!

The food was wonderful and the wine kept coming.  We shared a lot of laughs and everyone seemed to be having just as much fun as Phillip and me.  After we finished up dinner, Phillip told me that the night wasn’t over yet.  When we got back in the limo, he pulled out a homemade cd of all of my favorite Christmas songs, then we drove around River Oaks and ooed and ahhed over all the incredible Christmas lights.

It was such a magical night.  Phillip, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for always making me feel special and like there is no other girl in the room.  You are the love of my life and the best friend I will ever have.  I love and adore you more than you’ll ever know.  I look so forward to the many years we have to share together and I thank God for blessing me with a man like you every day that I am alive.  I love you more than life itself.
